Logging Caboose

This bunk car starts as a crew car and mobile tool shed on the Bear Creek Railroad. Later it was rebuild as logging caboose and now trails log trains

But it's still used as a home for track crew members on bad weather and to supply the camps and loggers with goods, tools and other equipment.

The model

The model started as a quick bash from roof laths and ply wood, screwed together and covered with planks cut from roof laths. The car body has run on a pair of standard disconnects. This was a typical design on many logging railroads.

In 2010, the car got own trucks. The disconnects are back in logging operation only.

Here are some older photos, showing the first version of the car.
